Bio-ethanol
As the exclusive supplier of over 1 million tonnes of wheat per annum to Ensus,
Europe's largest bio-ethanol plant on Teeside, the road to a sustainable future
looks brighter with Glencore.
Ensus will utilise 1.2 million tonnes of wheat a year
Ensus will generate Greenhouse Gas savings that are the equivalent of taking
300,000 cars off the road
Ensus will be able to meet 33% of the bio-ethanol demand under the UK's
RTFO requirement
Did you know...
...that for every tonne of wheat processed by Ensus - nothing is wasted?
- 1.2 million tonnes of wheat produces 400,000,000 litres
of bio-ethanol which when blended produces 7,600,000,000 litres
of petrol
- 1.2 million tonnes of wheat produces 350,000 tonnes of 32% protein animal feed
- 1.2 million tonnes of wheat produces 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide which is being
used in the soft drinks / food manufacturing processes
- Bio-ethanol accounts for over 80% of the world's biofuel annual production - mainly due to its popularity in Brazil
- In Europe Ford, Volvo and Saab manufacture flex-fuel cars which will run on fossil
fuel or bio-ethanol up to E85 (i.e. 15% bio-ethanol)
